Medical bill charge summary with a red "past due" stamp across it.

Oregonians are struggling with the rising costs of health care. Families spend nearly a quarter of their household budget on health care and costs are expected to continue climbing, forcing people to make hard choices between paying for medical care or other basic needs.

Big hospital systems are making things worse by tacking on hidden and unjustified medical fees to patients’ bills. These unexpected and expensive fees, also known as “facility fees,” are often a charge for simply walking in the door — not for actually being treated.

Oregonians deserve fair, transparent health care, but hospitals are standing in the way. Tell Oregon lawmakers the time is now to protect patients from hidden and unjustified hospital “facility fees” by passing Senate Bill 539.
